I have steeled myself against further heartbreak, in light of you lot tearing my heart out and stamping on it THREE TIMES in the past rounds :(

None of these were particularly hard at all, hesitated over Cyndi v Outkast but GJWHF is no 'Time After Time'.

Only tough one here was Jacko vs Eminem - went for the former as though RSS is grebt it's not as good as 'Without Me', which is the only Eminemem song that could possibly beat Billie Jean.

I would also have voted for My Name Is...

The only one that I needed to think twice about here was Missy vs Van Halen, Missy is awesome but Jump is one of the most joyously stupid records ever.

I didn't particularly want to tick Cannonball but I really don't think Papa Don't Preach is anything special especially by Madge standards.

Oh god the elephant noise! I actually think Work It would have beaten every other song here hands down for me, including Billie Jean, which makes it even more frustrating it's been drawn against jump.

I hadn't seen the video for Cannonball (http://youtube.com/watch?v=iK30kW6JssI) before. It's not very good.

I am mildly surprised at the current postions of Cannonball and Papa Don't Preach. Even if I hadn't heard Cannonball at every single ruddy indie disco I ever attended, I'd still rate PDP way above it. It's all abt the strings, innit?

Date: 2007-02-08 02:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] braisedbywolves.livejournal.com
Hating things because you hear them too much = indie :) Actually, voting for Madonna tracks because they're Madonna tracks (as several people are certainly doing) is what makes Madge the flag-bearer of indie here.

'Papa Don't Preach' is like...my third favourite Madge single ever. Or fourth. I like 'Cannonball' but there are about TWENTY Madge singles which are better than it. wrt to PDP - the music is better, the energy is better, Madge sells an emotional situation far more effectively.

Some of us have had the good sense not to go 'indie discos' in over a decade, and thus can vote for Cannonball without any nasty associations...

I voted for Madge because although I only like Papa Don't Preach, and I'm a bit fed up of Madonna in general, I HAVE NEVER LIKE CANNONBALL. Nor have I ever understood why people like it!

I want to say that all of my votes today were Poptimist votes, since Poptimism isn't determined by what you vote for but rather the style with which you vote for them. Today, I was typing in a Poptimist style, hence all my votes were Poptimist.

I JUDGE THAT...

has Van Halen?

'Cannonball' is much better than any mash-up featuring 'Cannonball' (but then i hate Skee-Lo, the dorky loser)

Tom I have a really good idea for a STAT we could calculate (or er maybe not, I certainly couldn't) - for the Jackin' Pop poll there was some kind of calculation someone did whereby you could see which other voters are Most Like You, who voted in the same ways you did. A similar exercise with these polls would enable us to ascertain who should be CAST OUTbe very fascinating!
