I have steeled myself against further heartbreak, in light of you lot tearing my heart out and stamping on it THREE TIMES in the past rounds :(

None of these were particularly hard at all, hesitated over Cyndi v Outkast but GJWHF is no 'Time After Time'.

Only tough one here was Jacko vs Eminem - went for the former as though RSS is grebt it's not as good as 'Without Me', which is the only Eminemem song that could possibly beat Billie Jean.

The only one that I needed to think twice about here was Missy vs Van Halen, Missy is awesome but Jump is one of the most joyously stupid records ever.

I didn't particularly want to tick Cannonball but I really don't think Papa Don't Preach is anything special especially by Madge standards.

Madge has a critical reputation?

I hadn't seen the video for Cannonball (http://youtube.com/watch?v=iK30kW6JssI) before. It's not very good.

I'm not convinced it's real.

I am mildly surprised at the current postions of Cannonball and Papa Don't Preach. Even if I hadn't heard Cannonball at every single ruddy indie disco I ever attended, I'd still rate PDP way above it. It's all abt the strings, innit?

Heheheh. You do realise you are only encouraging him, don't you?

Plus also as much as I do love Work It, Jump is just ever so slightly better.

Hating things because you hear them too much = indie :) Actually, voting for Madonna tracks because they're Madonna tracks (as several people are certainly doing) is what makes Madge the flag-bearer of indie here.

I would also have voted for My Name Is...

'Papa Don't Preach' is like...my third favourite Madge single ever. Or fourth. I like 'Cannonball' but there are about TWENTY Madge singles which are better than it. wrt to PDP - the music is better, the energy is better, Madge sells an emotional situation far more effectively.

I know this and I know he is only doing it to annoy me but it is BREAKING MY HEART, all these fites keep going down to the wire and then at the last minute tipping the wrong way :(

Eh? Getting bored of a record is not indie, nor is being a fan.

Well I think a lot of people are voting for the horrid rock songs because they're rock! It seems perfectly natural to me that people would vote for PDP because it is a gazillion times better, regardless of it being Madge.

Papa Don't Preach is excellent. I never used to like it now I would recognise it as one of her best singles, although I don't think of it as one of the best to dance to. It's all about the strings intro really.

No, it's called being a fan. Which is hardly an exclusively indie thing.
