All bow down before the turn of the century, innit.

Apart from two awful sore thumbs...it's basically solid gold until MOP.

I feel sad that I had to leave Jay-Z, Macy G and MOP unticked :(

BEST POLL EVER. Clearly.

There's so much goodness and I feel sad I had to pull the trigger on DMX right at the end.

... surely this is Stan? Not only was it #1 but there aren't many other tracks to have singlehandedly launched the career of a hugely successful if rub artist?

S'weird that "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" is still taken as a classic of the genre by rock fans, but if you started raving about Mystikal or Dead Prez to the average rap head as being GOATs, they'd just glare at you.

i) ROCK IS DEAD HURRAH - can we get back to this please
ii) ironically enough I think both token rock acts here, QOTSA and S-K, are very very good generally! Not good enough to come close to a tick, but they're basically the best the genre's come up with this decade.

Finally the critics seem to be taking notice of the good % of popular music, instead of the good % of music they like writing about in music magazines. THEORY: was Eminem way-paving in the last poll for the music press covering hip-hop/rnb/pop? (barring exceptions like TLC who obv never had as much success as Slim Shady did?) Alas I'm not massively qualified to answer this q as I have read about 4 music magazines in my life - am just interested as to what ppl who actually know what they're talking about think!

Hahahah Brothers In Rhythm has just come on my headphones. Brilliant.

For months I thought there was a group called "K. City X," and I thought it was a great name, but I wondered why, when they announced the group name, they never announced the song title.

Ain't it dark wrapped up in that tarp? I'm guessing from the low vote count here that this didn't get much attention in the British Isles.

"Goodbye Earl" is one of a number of songs that are more poignant in their Me First and the Gimme Gimmes cover version (see also: "Wild World", "Take It On The Run")
