Ladies and gents, it's time for 2001: A Poll Odyssey! Mumpop fans are wailing and gnashing their teeth at the news that two of the top three album artists of the year (David Gray and Robbie Williams) are nowhere to be found in these heats, and the third (Dido) just scraped in by the skin of her teeth (courtesy of justfanoe). Can teenpop, hiphop and chart bosh save the day? There's only one way to find out.

The Fennesz track is the pretty, non-glitchy one on Endless Summer that sounds like stammering vibraphones. I hope it gets a bit of love.

Best British girl group...ever? I think so! This is why Alesha Dixon's new career makes me a bit sad. She's so much better than churning out conservatively-minded MOR-pop, and (ugh) being a judge on (ugh) reality TV dancing contests.

Voted nine from the top of my head for now, at least three of which -- Ludacris ft Nate Dogg - Area Codes (25), Nelly & St Lunatics - Batter Up (28), Afroman - Because I Got High (1), The Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You (5) -- could easily go by the wayside if I have time to check out other songs I don't know. We'll see. (Included Blake Shelton's "Austin" on a hunch, and on the basis of me living in Austin now; vaguely remember liking it, but honestly can't recall anything else about it. So that could conceivably go, too.)

Were there actually any huge garage anthems after 2001? It seems such a long time ago that So Solid, Mis-teeq, Oxide & Neutrino, Artful Dodger, Genius Cru etc were bothering the top ten.

Might change a couple of those though, since 1) I suspect there are a few here I know but don't know I know, 2) WTF "Blumenwiese Neben Autobahn" was 2001, that seems like cheating somehow, and 3) only the Soulchild remix of "19/2000" is good.
