Ladies and gents, it's time for 2001: A Poll Odyssey! Mumpop fans are wailing and gnashing their teeth at the news that two of the top three album artists of the year (David Gray and Robbie Williams) are nowhere to be found in these heats, and the third (Dido) just scraped in by the skin of her teeth (courtesy of justfanoe). Can teenpop, hiphop and chart bosh save the day? There's only one way to find out.

So let's get cracking with a high-charting heat - ten top 5 hits and three number ones. Happy ticking!

Not that I recall: their 2000 singles were "Independent Women, Part 1", "Say My Name" and "Jumpin' Jumpin'", all of which made it through.

I don't mean "made it through," I mean "came in first." Iirc "Independent Woman Pt 1" and "Jumpin Jumpin" were in the same heat, with "Jumpin Jumpin" gaining first place. But I'm still too lazy to look.

Well, then, the only other question that needs answering to affirm your initial suspicion is that "Say My Name" won its heat. And it did (indeed it amassed more ticks then any other track throughout all eight heats and hence is probably a favorite to become the best track of 2000).

"Say My Name" won its heat, "Jumpin Jumpin" and "Independent Women" were numbers 1 and 2 in their heat. No other songs in their heats were even close.
