poptimists in "listening to pop" shock
Apr. 4th, 2006 12:22 pm
i'm only playing wit u. haven't felt inspired to blog anything in ages, hence not even bothering to do the weekly poptimists chart. Too busy reading interesting books about BRANEs (not attomickbranes) and doing things that involve trips to HOMEBASE and WICKES (i love being against the trend BECAUSE I AM INDIE). (Also, as of this morning I'm officially "concerned" about where ILX is going.) So this is a token to say I AM STILL HERE, INTERNETS. I am jaunty, hear me roar. like a little kitten.

Date: 2006-04-04 11:42 am (UTC)it's more something i can feel in my water - i'm not going to slag off andrew "in private" (i.e. elsewhere on t'internet) but i am concerned about his attitude. he's already got YMOF's back up, and he's also deleted a board without discussion. the trigger for deletion was a dumm trick that happened on the noise board ages ago.
meh - it's nothing major, just a sense that all isn't well

Date: 2006-04-04 11:55 am (UTC)I agree with you re this stuff - the absentee landlord suddenly showing up to repaint the whole house pink - but I'm also quite personally pleased at how much I DON'T care. Nothing a pint later this week won't sort out.

Date: 2006-04-04 01:16 pm (UTC)You keep repeating that last sentence, and it keeps not being true. The problem for me as a non-ignorer isn't what I will or won't be allowed to see, but what will be there to be seen: a bunch of people going "what?" "who said that?" etc.

Date: 2006-04-04 01:25 pm (UTC)you'll be ignoring generally well-behaved, articulate people with interesting things to say, who are also at times complete fvckheads (if I have your respective targets right).
the fvckheadery grossly outweights the former imo. nothing they've written strikes me personally as really worthwhile or worth preserving on my screen. but then, maybe i love it rly. put it this way, the people who annoy me, i don't want to be around them IRL either, in the same pub or whatever. so why be on the same online space as them either? you could take these people off ILX completely for me and i'd be fine with that. like when people leave the board because of such problems - it's fine, the board carries on, some people miss them and others don't.
so there's a facility to take someone off the board in your eyes, even if that is an illusion. i am interested and curious about the effects of this no doubt. i want to try it and see what happens. perhaps, as you say, it will fail. perhaps it will be a roaring sucess (at least in that i won't want to turn it off again).
You keep repeating that last sentence, and it keeps not being true.
well nor is it untrue. it won't be proven either way until it is tried out by some people. i suppose as with reg-only it will just replace old problems with new ones, but that's not really a reason NOT to try it.
