More 'heartbreak' for Drummond and Cauty as for the second Now Poll in a row they lose out by a single vote, this time to 2 Unlimited's "Get Ready For This", whose 1-point advantage also saw off the Pet Shop Boys and Salt N Pepa in an absurdly close contest. Only one person picked Ver Limited as their actual favourite, and there was a broad spread of worsts, with Python, MacLean and "Dizzy" all getting much dissing as well as a healthy level of actual-poll support.

Pop fate however seems to have smiled on the KLF, as they get two tracks on Now 21* and a frankly weak line-up going against them, packed full of second-single-syndrome, which is particularly grievous at a time when a lot of dance acts only really got one big single. Will they prevail? Let's see.

[Poll #667724]

*even if neither of them are nearly as good as "It's Grim Up North", le sigh.

Is is it a clerical error or does Freakytigger really not like 'Justified and ancient'?!?

this is the fewest i ever voted in favour of!!

admittedly i am in a slightly take-no-prisoners mood

the answer to the third question could throw my team's entire strategy into turmoil!!

I used to dance around my bedroom to Opus III pretending I was a hippy innit.

I also made up several dance routines to Open Your Mind by Usura. Oh dear.

I will admit to never having heard Opus III.

But people who would vote for the Wonder Stuff apall me. :-) That single was nearly as bad as the Genesis one.

The lack of "Goodnight Girl" love on this poll upsets me. It may be the best single by a Scottish band in the early part of the 90s.

Shanice on only 55% is 1x OUTRAGE. It's easily the best thing on this. Paula Abdul and Hammer also need more love.

I quite like the Simply Red and the Crowded House songs

That said, I think the only ones I own are:

"Bo Rhap" (of which best bit = the Fuzzbox cover for J.Peel)
Opus III (I have this on 12")
KLF - "America" (ditto)
KLF & Tammy (I have it on a NOW! Dance cassette)

Hammer is absolutely terrible on this. As anyone who stuck around for the closing credits of The Addams Family will testify.

However Hammer in general is grebt.

Hammer Man!
Hammer!
Hammer Man!
Hammer!

Hmm, I need a Hammer footwork dancing icon.

Joe Levy was once extremely depressed to hear that I liked "Vibeology." I still like it, but I don't suppose Joe is still depressed.

"Promise of a New Day" lacks "Vibeology"'s vibe.

'Justified And Ancient' is currently my favourite single of the 90s.

The sight of Tammy Wynette's face as she pronounces 'Mu-Mu Land' in the video will stay with me 4evah.
