Ready to crash the wedding and shake it like a polaroid picture? It's 2003 nominations time!

# 10 song per person limit on stuff that didn't chart in the UK top 40 in 2002.

# Nominate as many charting hits as you like.

# Nominating fewer than 10 non-charting songs is perfectly fine.

# Do check everyhit.co.uk for chart placings: if your song might be spelled weirdly and doesn't show up in the results, try searching by artist instead of title (or vice versa) or using 'contains the word' instead of 'first few letters'.

# I strongly recommend posting nominations in a new comment thread rather than as a reply to another comment, as I am lazy and therefore unlikely to go digging around in nested comments etc.

# Don't worry about repeating someone else's nomination - as far as humanly possible I'll let you know if one of your ten picks is already nominated so you can choose another one.

# Nominate double-A sides separately please!

# Any queries regarding years/chart positions shall be subject to my WHIM.

# Need more help? Have a look at the examples on the 2002 nominations post.

What's been nominated already?

I'll get the ball rolling just by reviewing my own top songs of the decade list:

Rachel Stevens - "Sweet Dreams My LA-Ex"
Martina McBride - "This One's For The Girls"
Guided by Voices - "The Best of Jill Hives"
David Banner - "Cadillac on 22s"

That's 3 slots, I'll go in the tank to think of my other 7

Thanks for saving me from having to nominate McBride and Banner, thus enabling me to squeeze 2 more songs onto my noms list!

Charted in the UK (and not yet nominated, unless my control-F isn't working. (Actually, a couple of these were probably already used in 2002; I'm not sure):

joe budden – pump it up
the darkness – growing on me
the darkness – I believe in a thing called love
jet – are you gonna be my girl
r. kelly – step in the name of love
electric six – gay bar
electric six – dance commander
dizzee rascal - fix up look sharp
Justin timberlake – señorita
Justin timberlake – rock your body
The roots feat. cody chesnutt – the seed (2.0)

Curious about this one, too; Wikipedia says it went to #96 in the UK, but I'm not finding it on everyhit, so I'm not sure whether it qualifies as a charted song or not:

A.R.E. Weapons – Hey World

Still need to check out the Darkness's Christmas song that charted, which I don't think I've ever heard...

B2K - Take It to the Floor
Wesley Clarke - It'll Be Okay
Jaga Jazzist - Animal Chin
In-Grid - Tu es foutu

My 10th (lovely lovely Mew) was preempted, so I shall have to have a long hard think about what to replace it with. Too many options! Charters I'm leaving till the first rash of nominations is done, because a lot of mine are already covered.

Oh hang on, the Unkle actually charted? How did I miss that before? (Okay, probably because of spelling discrepancy. Either that or I didn't so much miss it as forget it came up in the search, heh...)

Panjabi MC - Mundian To Bach Ke

Everyhit lists this and "Beware of the Boys" as two different songs, by the way, which confuses me. (In the states, "Beware" was simply the subtitle of "Mundian," as I recall.) If "Beware" is the remix with Jay-Z on it, maybe they should both be on the list, separately?

Ah, someone got to Panjabi MC before me. I heart that track SO BAD.

I have no idea what the hell was out this year, I'd descended into full-on rockism. Was there a quite good track by Liberty X where they were on train tracks in the snow in the video? I think there was.

(This was at a point where S Club no longer knew how many they were. Also is the only S Club track that ever really made me feel.)

Caesars didn't chart until the re-release in 2005! Seems daft not to include it though as it was EVERYWHERE.

OK, here's the first nominee of my ten:

Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz f. the Ying Yang Twins - "Get Low"

It similarly did not chart in the U.K. until re-release in 2005, where it scraped in at 38, but it would be even more daft not to count it for 2003, since not only was it everywhere, its success in the U.S. in 2003 was probably the most significant event in hip-hop in the entire decade, further solidifying the dominance of the Dirty South and having a massive, massive, massive effect on what popular hip-hop would subsequently sound like and on what made it onto U.S. and even British radio in 2004, and is a likely precursor to some of what we'll nominate in 2004. So it seems wrong to put the precursor later than the stuff it precursed. This is entirely up to you Kat, but pretty please? It'll count against my ten.

In case anybody is having trouble coming up with ten nominations and needs their memory jogged, you're welcome to any of these songs that are unlikely to make my nominations list (unless somebody else nominates one or more of the ten on my short list before I do): Gary Allan "Songs About Rain," Brooks & Dunn "Red Dirt Road," Kenny Chesney "Big Star," Clone Defects "Shapes Of Venus," Sara Evans "Perfect," Kentucky Headhunters "Everyday People," Lifesavas "What If It's True," Bubba Sparxxx "Back In The Mud" and "Comin' Round."

A couple more I probably won't nominate but somebody else should (now that a post that Frank put on his blog reminded me of a couple more I'd forgotten about that I probably will nominate): Lyrics Born "Callin' Out" and Ying Yang Twins' "Naggin'" Also, Deana Carter had a couple singles that might be worth somebody nominating: "There's No Limit" (which Frank also mentioned) and "I'm Just A Girl" (which he didn't.) (I'm limiting myself to songs that I can actually verify were singles; album tracks are just too hard to manage and keep track of and go back to doublecheck.) Anyway, somebody should really use their stray nominations on a few of these (and/or the ones Frank mentions on his blog, which people should look at too unless he also posts them here).

Based on the assumption that we count both "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" and the Dresden DOlls' self-titled debut as 2003 albums:

Scout Niblett - Your Beat Kicks Back Like Death
Har Mar Superstar - Power Lunch
Har Mar Superstar - We Could Be Heavy
Black Eyed Peas - Latin Girls
The Dresden Dolls - Coin-Operated Bouy
The Dresden Dolls - Girl Anachronism
The Dresden Dolls - Missed Me
Outkast - Spread
Outkast - Bowtie

...aand another I haven't decided on yet.

(Outkast's "Roses" and "The Way You Move" are chart for 2004, I believe. As are a bunch of things I would otherwise nominate for the Peas.)
