Suggestion for the polling, if you're sticking with the best-new-tune auxiliary question: I really liked the idea of being able to earn an extra nomination for the upcoming year, but understand that the extra tick is a better (and more repeatable) incentive for most peeps, so I had the thought that the extra nom could be reintroduced as a prize for naming yr favourite new song in, say, five heats over a year? Could further encourage participation, and all that!

(And okay mostly I'm suggesting this because 2004 on is going to be MURDER, ahaha.)

Excellent idea (and hopefully won't complicate the process too much)!

Just for reference: I am likely to change the nomination process from 2006 onwards (me? change the rules? never etc) seeing as 1) the number of charting hits only really reduced dramatically in 2006 (with the advent of downloads etc), thereby rendering 'unlimited chart picks' somewhat limiting 2) 2006 is when poptimists itself really got going, so removing the consensus picks from people's potential nominations shouldn't be too difficult :)
