X-Factor runner-up Eoghan "Eggnog-Soggoth" Quigg has done a song about THE INTERWEBS:

"Does your snow white skin ever see the sunshine?"
"We've got no chance if you're always preoccupied with your Second Life"

I hate to say it but this is actually brilliant.

Pasty white internet nerd sez: THIS SONG SUCK!!!111!!!

Although I really like that his first suggestion in the song is to go see a movie!! Which is doing the same thing but wasting a lot of money.

"How does it feel to be alone?" I dunno, dude's kind of an asshole. Also, assuming that all internet users are white (and potentially "snow white"!) = super-irksome to say the least.

He's not singing to "all internet users"! I for one do not feel addressed by this song. He's singing to a chick. Maybe Diana Vickers, whose creepy claw hand syndrome has been caused by mouse overuse.

Though you suspect that if his crush has friended TWENTY EIGHT THOUSAND people but not him he is onto something of a loser.

Woops! I meant something more like "all heavy users of social networking sites" or something, obvs. But fair point on Vickers and THE CLAW.

In what sense could this song possibly be brilliant? It's a pop song for kids that isn't even catchy. I thought the damage Busted caused upon British kids pop was over but it seems sadly not.

Well it's brilliant in the sense that the people that will be most receptive to this song will almost surely be the people he is attacking. Songwise not sure if I'm down though...

I don't think Eoghan is really attacking them, though. Isn't he just saying "There's more to life than the Internet"? The songwriters have capitalised on what is the biggest current fad with kids his age i.e. sites like MySpace, and since there's not really anywhere to go with a song celebrating it, it makes more sense to criticise it, since that's also a very common viewpoint currently. It's quite a nice, modern sentiment, but it can't make up for the lack of poptasticness... or Eoghan's face, or his lack of either a) talent or b) personality. I think he'll be a one half-hit wonder.

shhh haterz i agree with kat: this is disturbingly good. i mean, the tune isn't great but then what is in these days of taylor swift. i didn't watch the x factor so have no direct beef with this dude other than lil chris could do this song better but i kind of really like the 'YOU AND YOOOUR 28,000 FRI-ENDS' bit a lot. and i possibly want to mother him. err.

I like the 'get out of the house!' bit. Why'd they pick 28,000 though? 30,000 scans far better.

I wouldn't go so far as brilliant but I think it's funny at least.

An update of this:

I suspect the lyrics were not written by an teenager.
