I am putting together a set of CDs to live with the DJ decks at Poptimism, so all DJs have permanent access to an emergency (and quite comprehensive) library of the decade's "big tunes". ("big" defined as likely to get a crowd moving at Poptimism)

My question is: who is NOT on this list of artists who has made a banging record in the 00s that should be in the permanent armoury of our club night? I feel I'm weak on the mid-decade where I seem not to have been paying as much attention. Also some subgenres aren't very well represented (does metal do "bangers"?)

My other question is: the 00s - awesome OR WHAT?

looking in my 'Neonpop' folder i'd consider:

Har-Mar Superstar - EZ Pass (Mint Royale mix)
Hilary Duff - Beat Of My Heart
Margaret Berger - Samantha
N'Sync - POP
Pleasure - Uptown
Portobella - Vive La Difference
Shiny Toy Guns - Le Disko
The Similou - All This Love
Vanilla Ninja - Liar
Whigfield - Was A Time
Wigwam - Wigwam

altho only one of those was a biggish hit

The Hilary Duff song I would choose is "Come Clean."

'Come Clean' is prob my favourite Hilarity but it's not really a dancefloor thing. 'Wake Up'!

"Come Clean" has a groove you can sway to (also a dance remix, but I don't like it as much as I like the original).

I quite like the dance remix, although agree it isn't as good as the original in a bedroom context I can imagine it sounding fvcking AMAZING after a few.

And the Margaret Berger song I'd choose is "Robot Song," which even got a Freaky Trigger writeup.

'Robot Song' came on randomly about half an hour ago! I prefer 'Samantha' but it looks very lonely all on it's own on her Discogs page in terms of more recent material. No 2nd album?
