My question is: who is NOT on this list of artists who has made a banging record in the 00s that should be in the permanent armoury of our club night? I feel I'm weak on the mid-decade where I seem not to have been paying as much attention. Also some subgenres aren't very well represented (does metal do "bangers"?)

My other question is: the 00s - awesome OR WHAT?

You don't have enough people under "X," so I would nominate Richard X's "Presents the X Factor," but I think that would count as "R" on your list :( LAST NAME ALPHABETIZATION PLZ. (Though I'm torn on where to put R. Kelly. I file him under "K" but it doesn't feel right.)

*Presents HIS X-Factor. Not to be confused with the comic book, I guess.

I have fond memories of dancing to Wind of Change, but it is entirely possible that it was the kind of dancing that mitigated against anyone else joining me.

Judging by my iTunes the best track of the 00s is Magb0t's 'Nork Maiden' remix :)

Rex: Frequency (weedle-weedle-wee-orr-wooo-ooh) or Maximise (that's the dog-dog-dog-dog one), the latter seems to go down better amongst non-bosh dudes.
Roisin: Overpowered I think!
Vitalic: My Friend Dario = tried and tested.

Surely the question is: "does metal do non-bangers?"

Bangin' 00's metal, possibly suitable for poptimists:
The Rasmus- In The Shadows, No Fear
Dragonforce- general back catalogue post 2000 but Through The Fire And Flames is probably the srs banger innit, if a bit long
Maz Manson- Disposable Teens/The Fight Song/Mobscene/This Is The New Sh!t/Etc.
Linkin Park's first album is full of quality pop bangers, too, although it vaguely pains me to admit that 'In The End' (which I've never liked much) is probably the bangingest

Are Vampire Weekend srsly a poptimist banger?

Also, Lex will go mental over the lack of Young [Name] rappers in the 'y' section but I'll leave that to him and suggest 'Discotheque' by Young Love for that alphabet slot.

Kind of hard to stand still to "A-Punk", dude! And it has a swirl around and wave your hands bit!

for Rex i'd always rather hear 'Protoype' or 'I Look Into Mid-Air' over 'Frequency' which i don't like half as much altho would concede that it has got more play at Poptimism thanks to carsmile so might go down better on that basis if nothing else (tried and tested as Kat sez)

or there's his remix of The Knife's 'Heartbeats' if that counts

Roisin #1 'banger' = 'Ramalama (Bang Bang)'. absolutely brilliant but i suppose it suffers from not being a single (and a bit weird obv).

looking in my 'Neonpop' folder i'd consider:

Har-Mar Superstar - EZ Pass (Mint Royale mix)
Hilary Duff - Beat Of My Heart
Margaret Berger - Samantha
N'Sync - POP
Pleasure - Uptown
Portobella - Vive La Difference
Shiny Toy Guns - Le Disko
The Similou - All This Love
Vanilla Ninja - Liar
Whigfield - Was A Time
Wigwam - Wigwam

altho only one of those was a biggish hit

And the song would be "4ever" (possibly first or second greatest Max 'n' Luke tune ever).

The Hilary Duff song I would choose is "Come Clean."

And the Margaret Berger song I'd choose is "Robot Song," which even got a Freaky Trigger writeup.
