Date: 2008-03-07 03:42 pm (UTC)ORGAN SOLO
Date: 2008-03-07 03:42 pm (UTC)Ahem, yes - I ticked this with the Stranglers' version of Walk On By in mind.
Re: ORGAN SOLO
Date: 2008-03-07 04:49 pm (UTC)raisins
Date: 2008-03-07 03:46 pm (UTC)- I think Brown just had the bigger/wider impact, and better dancing perhaps...altho 'Who's Zooming Who' beats 'Living In America' heh
Live Albums
- because the recent Daft Punk, Kraftwerk and Knife live CDs are big faves and I don't think I've been loving any particular remix CDs in that same time. also remix albums are pure convenience whereas live albums typically give you something you can't collect another way (apart from dodgy bootlegs)
Drum solo
- not sure, just felt right
Australia
- see bands list above - not actually that convincing but i can't think of that many from Canada i like either
Road To Nowhere
- i think Autobahn is quite a dull Kraftwerk track, important as it is.
FFWD
- i has ADD, next please...
1970s
- Quantick OTM
2-Step
- I love Two Tone too. Outling my personal reasons for liking 2-Step is tricky but could be coaxed as we go
Soul
- not really worth going into
Girl Power
- mainly because i don't know much RG stuff/it passed me by, whereas GP was far less avoidable as A Thing (for better or worse)
"Safe"
- I am so sick of the word 'bland'/it's frequent mis-use and never want to read it again. Blanned more like.
Passion
- not so into throwaway thrills

Yes, certainly on his wives and girlfriends.

Date: 2008-03-07 04:42 pm (UTC)Hurrah for bass solo winning however I have just remember that this puts the great nemesis Muse in a position of approval. :( I was thinking more Death From Above 1979 at the time of ticking.

Date: 2008-03-08 09:34 pm (UTC)Easiest ws voting for 2-step, 70s, Girl Power (Riot grrrl has yet to find its way to my ears).
Surprised that Fashion is being trounced by Passion!
Went for bland, but its an interesting coupling.
Soul: Good Genre, Terrible Sensibility
Date: 2008-03-08 10:22 pm (UTC)I dunno which I would choose genre-wise, since I dislike very little soul but also love-beyond-reason more rock than soul (even if I also hate a lot of rock), but the orientation toward "having soul" is one of the ugliest authenticity debates in music writing! The "soul sensibility" ("that is so soulful," "that is the real soul") is one of the stodgiest of all, whereas at least one could argue that the "rock sensibility" has long ago moved away from most of rock-the-genre. That is to say the idea of "being soul" is directly responsible for Lex's Winehouse-dilution rant!
