Second half of 1964 = teh awesum. The first half though is mostly a long Merseybeat hangover. Billy J Kramer = Northside.

One of the great unanswered qns of Popular (which I am going to have to tackle in 2 entries time) is "When did flirty songs about small children stop being cute and start being creepy?"

"Save All Your Kisses For Me" is the last No.1 to pivot on it I think.

"Clair" is kind of weirdly repulsive to me but that's nothing to do with its subject matter.

Heaven 17's wonderfully sinister Come Live With Me was a hit in 1983, but it's about a teenager rather than a small child. "I was thirty seven, you were seventeen" sings Glenn, but the creepy chorus is the kicker - "Kiss the boys goodbye!"
