the most pop person would not have such mean spirited opinion of music made using guitars with male voices.

over serious extension: I just edited out "bigoted" because it's such a strong word, and one likely to upset for rounder connotations, and I don't want to upset you. we are having fun here on poptimists. but your opinions on this do literally often deserve such an extreme description. when you say things like die and kill, and the like. even taken purely rhetorically, it can be disturbing when repeated. and not what i call pop.

ha ha. the only problem for me is not the cartoon vitriol but just that Lex becomes a broken record by repeating himself so much in this way and this would be a shame because he often makes a valid point if not always in the most effective way (beyond just 'stirring it up' deliberately). hi Lex!

The guitars aren't actually that prominent in Common People really. It's got one of those great 'the guitars all sound like synths' sound to it.

If anything, All The Things She Said is more of a guitar record. (Yes, I know, no boys, but level of testosterone in Jarvis = minimal).

It does the fills, but the synths absolutely make it. Like Tom said half-a-dozen years ago, there's so much to be said about the lyrics and Jarvis that people often forget that the whole band plays a blinder.

But saying things like "die" and "kill" is very pop. At least where I grew up it was.
