The last Now poll was the closest for AGES, with Gorillaz finally beating Shaggy and Nelly F by one vote - "Clint Eastwood" is the lowest-rated winner ever, which makes up slightly for it being the first one I don't actually like.

Date: 2006-06-02 12:59 pm (UTC)But of course the actual content of the music that gets picked to be the acceptable face of hip hop by the Guardian or whoever never stands up to that kind of scrutiny - the Guardian etc. loves Missy, for example, and is always trying to make her seem to be 'better' (morally) than those other hip hop and r&b people.
The point is, you might as well complain about Missy's rep.

but, that's just a bit of fun surely? i think people, from all sides, have funny ideas about what rappers should and shouldn't do in this regard.
