A very mixed bag, Now 49 - for every Destiny's Child making a (somewhat delayed) bow in a Now poll, there's a Dido. For every Mis-Teeq, a Marti Pellow. A number of strong candidates should make for an intriguing poll.

The last Now poll was the closest for AGES, with Gorillaz finally beating Shaggy and Nelly F by one vote - "Clint Eastwood" is the lowest-rated winner ever, which makes up slightly for it being the first one I don't actually like.

THE TICKNESS

It was Ethan who made that Flaming Lips comment iirc.

To which my response remains 'whatever' really. It doesn't alter the fact that 'Hey Ya' is a great pop song. It's equally suspect of people to dismiss Outkast for catering to a wider audience in this way, 'selling out' or whatever.

Surely Eminem is the whitest commercial hip hop act?

Eminem being the other token hip hop act to gain acceptance in indie circles, in a way Biggie, Jay-Z, Lil Kim et al never did!

Arguably Jay-Z DID start to get this right at the 'end' of his career... The Kanye effect.

What crazy world do you live in when the American indie kid's favourite rapper isn't Jay-Z? You'll be arguing that Dipset aren't indie next.

Oddly enough I don't know many American indie kids. I am talking about the UK indie attitude.

Beck, Cake, Soul Asylum, and The Bangles. Discuss.

Oddly enough I don't care about American indie kids either!
