Girl turn your rekkids off

March - a bumper month for Top 40 hits with quite a few great ones but even more appalling ones. Go do.

[identity profile] freakytigger.livejournal.com 2006-05-23 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Obviously I forgot Blunto when picking my worst. "Wisemen" isn't only this month's worst single, it's James Blunt's worst single.

But I'm not going to go back and change my vote, as We Are Scientists annoyed me nearly as much, to the point of me actually google-searching the lyrics so I could work out who it was that I hated.

I very nearly ticked Wisemen. But then I bottled out.

It has a hook, let's give him that.

I have no grebt enthusiasm for any of these, by the way - Hot Chip's is the most imaginative but also kind of irritating after 3 plays. Sugababes and Madge were solid second single picks.

How does the Delays one go Steve?

[identity profile] alexmacpherson.livejournal.com 2006-05-23 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Even though Sugababes was a third single! I think 'Red Dress' is better than 'Push The Button', myself. I have never heard the Stalinist rewrite of it with Mutya expunged from its history though.

[identity profile] alexmacpherson.livejournal.com 2006-05-23 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Also the Man With Guitar rmx of 'Sorry' fully vindicates its being a single (Man With Guitar being JLC not a man with a guitar) - so much better than the original! If I had my way the Confessions singles would be 'Hung Up', 'Jump', 'Get Together' and 'I Love New York'.

i have ticked all of the ones i have heard, all 2 of them. oh actually i've heard the pussycat dolls one too, but it's rub.

[identity profile] jauntyalan.livejournal.com 2006-05-23 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
this year i have been terrible at teh pop. i can recall exactly ONE of these - the GA one (obv) - even tho i'm told i'd like Hot Chip i haven't taken the time. (the last album didn't set me up to)

[identity profile] catsgomiaow.livejournal.com 2006-05-23 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I was very annoyed with the Hot Chip album, as their singles were ace and they were ace live but the album was RUB. Boo!

Memory jogging!

[identity profile] katstevens.livejournal.com 2006-05-23 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Black Eyed Peas' Pump It has def grown on me. I think it's a decent attempt at using the sampled-to-death Dick Dale riff. I may be biased though.

Ne-Yo was number 1! Do you people not LISTEN to music any more?

Ne*Yo is amazing!

Basically if at any point you have been a bus where girls were playing a song through their mobile phones this year, the song would've been 'So Sick'.

"Do you people not LISTEN to music any more?"

sadly, over the last few months, yes this is true. i looked at the recent list of number 1s about 2 weeks ago, and was "wuh? who? orson? wha?" etc :-(

Haha I had no idea Kanye released 'Touch The Sky'. Why did the idiot boy not release 'Gone' or 'Crack Music'?

[identity profile] zenith.livejournal.com 2006-05-23 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
If he had released 'Crack Music' then he might have had to answer some awkward questions about why no Game verse. And he never puts out the best track as a single hence no 'Gone'.

Argh why is Shakira getting less love than the other pop people on here? Is it because of lack of exposure (I don't think radio knew what to make of 'Don't Bother')?

[identity profile] katstevens.livejournal.com 2006-05-23 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Just had a listen to it on shakira.com. Poor. Hips Don't Lie is grebt though!

Shakira rules! That new song of hers isn't on the album though :(

How to be my friend

[personal profile] koganbot 2006-05-23 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I have now added everyone who voted for "Fly" to my friends list. (Except both of you were already on my list.)

"Fly" is the greatest U.S. teenpop single of the last six years.

(It did come out in 2004, however.)
