Now 45 is - appropriately - the biggest now ever, with 45 45s, BLIMEY DO YOU SEE, anyway this means that for once we have no room for the "BUM MORE LIKE" no-ticks-here options. And do you know what? You won't be needing them anyway! This Now has the first appearances of Craig David, Atomic Kitten, Daphne And Celeste, Kelis....and Kevin and Perry. It's a new millennium and pop rules o'er all - get your ticky fingers ready...

Now 44? Britney walked it.

[Poll #731283]

It's a kind of dance music, m'lud.

Precious = can't remember tune exactly right now but some lyrics would probably ring a bell; I have promo single at home, I do remember that it is 'Baby One More Time' copyism ie brilliant (I suspect Fierce is the same)

Fierce is a boshed up version of Anita Baker.

Watergate's was a pop-trancey version of that theme music that comes from something else related to Asia. A bit like 'Chung Kuo' but DIFFERENT.

That would be Grime which I'd probably call UK Garage. Just to be extra muso-tiny-genre-annoying. (or jungle or maybe dubstep.)

Kelis = one of the most amazing debut singles ever since er, Britney.

I like more Speed Garage songs than Grime songs, but I haven't heard as many Grime songs (excl pop crossover viz Dizzee R, Lady Sov and co). Speed Garage Anthems = staple of 6th form common room radio. Unescapable.

I'm still tempted to change my vote to 'Imagine', though, because it's not like there are many people who would try to tell you that 'Mama Told Me Not To Come' is the best song eva, unlike that piece of posturing Lennon pish.

Two things...

1) It seems to be nearly universally accepted that the Tom Jones and his bastard son Kelly have recorded the most-hated song in the history of the Poptimists Now polls.

2) Spread the Madison Avenue love. Also, best remix ever = McSleazy's mashup of 'Don't Call Me Baby' with Blur's 'Song 2'. Guaranteed to get everyone on the dancefloor every time!

Also take a look at [livejournal.com profile] braisedbywolves' voting. That's quite a negative take on what is essentially a fairly decent Now!

...no one has mentioned 'Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely', which is my favourite Backstreet Boys song.

a) completely abject!
b) I have a soft spot for sappy pop ballads which actually stare into the VOID of DESPAIR
c) chorales straight outta BACH
d) "there's something missing in my - heeaaaart"
e) it was released on Valentine's Day
f) sniff, sob
