Back. Back! BACK!!! It's the Now poll, this time muscled into 1996 by an Oasis track on each arm. Now 32 was a second win for Pulp, closer this time though with Coolio and Shaggy trailing. Can Pulp make it 3 in a row? On paper this looks like a weak opposition but who knows which way the whim of Poptimists will wend?

Lush did good Britpop! but they did better shoegaze-lite, obv.

oh you and your Glazer hatred

the Gabrielle song is her best one. i had it in my head this morning, by coincidence.

i ticked the Dubstar tho can't quite remember it, naughty. well it's no 'St Swithuns Day' anyway.

didn't tick Bab Zoo. prefer 'Animal Army'!

The real lyrics were:
and the doorbell strangely rang

But I misheard them as:
and the dog smelt strangely rank

The embarassing moment of revelation:
When I was at my friends house I realized my mistake when we wre all singing along to this song and when the time came to sing this line my friends soon became incapacitated with laughter. The laughter lasted for a mere 30 minutes whereas they have ridiculed me for the last 6 months.

Too Much Love Will Kill You - also first song after Freddy Mercury's horribly public death from AIDs related illness/media furore/villification of him being a big queer promiscuous pervert. FUCK OFF BRIAN MAY.

gabrielle was an AMAZING singles artist. i'm surprised st et aren't walking it, actually! they do what pulp do but a lot better.

What's wrong with the video for Street Spirit?

Gabrielle really is massively overrated by [livejournal.com profile] poptimists (well, you and Lex)

LOADS and LOADS of videos AFTER it used the same video tricks. i.e. in retrospect. it was the 90s equivalent of those 80s videos using "Kenny Everett" quantel effects

i'm desparately hoping that the m&tm was proto-bosh, ie with a smidgeon of disco beat under it, that's what i can hear in my head, but i may have just been branewashed by TEH BOSH cd...
