Back. Back! BACK!!! It's the Now poll, this time muscled into 1996 by an Oasis track on each arm. Now 32 was a second win for Pulp, closer this time though with Coolio and Shaggy trailing. Can Pulp make it 3 in a row? On paper this looks like a weak opposition but who knows which way the whim of Poptimists will wend?

I think this is the worst one so far.

It's packed with loads of terrible indie/britpop stuff.

This is where i definitely stopped buying Nows.

Two Oasis tracks is completely unforgivable.

OK some positivity: St Etienne, Luniz, Gabrielle, Lush and Dubstar are all terrific!

Agreed. NOW polls are reminding me how much worstgood Pulp there is. This is not a happy thing.

(total pulp obsessive then and now. Although Different Class always=least favourite Pulp Album)

I can't remember Gusto or Ken Doh either but ticked them on the basis that they're probably a bit ravey.

Louise goes "in walked - love! in walked - you! in walked something something something". bouncy pop fun as per.

they're both handbagtastic. although this won't be the original version of 'Disco's Revenge' which had a fantastic tomtom breakdown and no shitty vocals.

'ladykillers' is the ONLY time i came close to 'getting' britpop - ie the culture, the scene, the hanging out in camden (obv from a distance, at the time i'd never been to camden OH HAPPY TIMES) - as opposed to just a couple of songs here and there. i have the album; all the singles = ace, still; all the album tracks = extremely rub.

Lush did good Britpop! but they did better shoegaze-lite, obv.

oh you and your Glazer hatred

the Gabrielle song is her best one. i had it in my head this morning, by coincidence.

i ticked the Dubstar tho can't quite remember it, naughty. well it's no 'St Swithuns Day' anyway.

didn't tick Bab Zoo. prefer 'Animal Army'!

I LIKED IT AT THE TIME AND LIKE IT NOW and if YOU don't like it I'll bury you in J.Power's perm.

Too Much Love Will Kill You - also first song after Freddy Mercury's horribly public death from AIDs related illness/media furore/villification of him being a big queer promiscuous pervert. FUCK OFF BRIAN MAY.

Actually it's vv boring, and I would not want to listen to it now. So er, can I withdraw that from the evidence list? Hmmm?

amusing pop fact: the original title of the Ken-Doh track was 'Nagasaki'. DYS?!

it's average handbag fare. worth another listen sometime. i don't have it tho.
