Welcome to Now 29, the summer of 1994, and The Big One as far as some Poptimists regulars are concerned - some legendary pop tunes, some legendary horrors, the first (and maybe ONLY) appearance of JUNGLE on a Now, the first (and far from only) appearance of WASIS, Kylie at the height of her Select-induced critical acclaim, boyband minnows Ultimate Kaos and 2wo 3hirds, the mighty Whigfield, AND MORE! What can possibly win???

Meanwhile when the dust settled on Now 28 none other than BLUR had won it, by one vote over Salt N Pepa and En Vogue, with Prodigy in third. What does this BODE as the Britpop years get rolling? Much diversity in the Damon Allbran career highpoints - watch for a Friday Canon on this very topic soon.

This was MY first now but I can't remember China Black OR Lisa Loeb either, but I knew she wore glasses. I wubbed the Ultimate Kaos track! It is too hard to name a favourite.

i think cyndi l was just a reissue - i didn't tick it because i don't approve of reissues like this, though obv it's a great song.

lisa loeb lyrics (http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/lisaloeb/stay.html) should jog the memory. it was very catchy.

I bought China Black on cassingle but the version I had was not the radio edit as ft on this Now. Imagine Lighthouse Family with slightly less buzzing. "Searching, for that SOMEthing that I CANnot FI-ind, in aNOTHer place another TIME..."
Other Kat cassingle purchases from this Now:
- Lisa L
- Whigfield
- Cyndi L
this would go against my normal reason for buying NOWs eg saving money, but I got this Now for WOBS in my STOCKING (hence advent love) so £££back.

We need a YSI of Ultimate Kaos, it's brilliant! Unfortunately I seem to have deleted it after d/ling the lot for Kat's advent thing.

China Black has the chorus that goes "Staaars in your eyeees"

Chart success possibly boosted by popularity of similarly named TV show of the same era.

The Lisa Loeb song is one of the few songs I recognize. You're lucky you don't
remember.

I'm surprised that M Gayle's doing so well, I thought she'd be one of those Great Lost Songs What No One Remembers.

I will zero comment on above Now; all my indepth analysis was spent last Dec when I used Now 29 as a makeshift advent calendar (feel free to go back and look, everyone).

No.

Doesn't one have a weirder video than the other?

I don't quite understand why Sparks has got twice as many ticks as 2wo Third3. Would one really be that much more memorable than the other? They're both very good I think.

Also why don't more people like the Massive Attack one? It's an exotic beaut...although I suppose it would seem dull to some on account of being only around 100bpm!

I'm pleased 'Love Is All Around' got its late surge at the end - it was on 0% when I voted for it!

I remember almost anything on this NOW as prepubscent G had just just discovered nindie and was listening to 'Beautiful Freak' and the first Dubstar album and NOTHING ELSE EVER.

B-b-b-b-b-but! This album is from late 1994, "Beautiful Freak" didn't drop until mid 1997!
