The summer of 1989 getting going and a very intriguing Now - two previous winners, a Bond theme, Fat Goth Bob, Soul II Soul and JIVE BUNNY!!!! battling for your kind affections and ticks. It's all going off in 20 different pop directions - which horse do you back?

Have pity on poor Erasure, meanwhile, who lose out in a second play-off as Yazz takes Now 13 by one vote. Now 14 was won at a canter by Neneh Cherry's "Buffalo Stance", acclaimed in the comments box as one of the great achievements of the 20th centry. The Fine Young Cannibals, Inner City and Paula Abdul provided cursory resistance. Opprobrium descended largely on M.Ball and Simple Minds (who are back again for more this time).

To the votemobile - let's go!

In my defence, I didn't like any of the singles after All I Want. I was collecting Parental Advisory stickers innit.

I have quite a number of Skunk Anansie singles! Including some AFTER "All I Want". NO albums, though!

I possess a large quantity of Skunk Anansie items. This is partially due to people remembering "Kat Likes Skunk Anansie Doesn't She" whenever it came round to birthday/wobs time. First album is still smashing though.

I own all the singles between "Charity" and "Charlie Big Potato", embarrassingly, except for "Brazen 'Weep'" which I don't think I've ever heard in my life.

"I Can Dream" is still aces as. My sister had the album and yes, I liked it plenty.

That was their INDIE PHASE was it not. Polyhex says #46. That's a good old fashioned indie kind of chart position, innit?

I am reclaiming the word "indie" for the tuneless shit that's too rub to get on a real label, rather than "bands with guitars that got in the top twenty", which is what it means nowadays.

FIGHT THE POWER.

you MUST have heard 'Brazen Weep' Ed - isn't this the one that goes 'just because it feels goooood, doesn't make it right'?

I had a feeling that'd be your answer. I still have a DC cassingle, somewhere.

No, that's "Hedonism", which I probably still know every word to. Sinead Quinn did a really awful cover of that one in 2003.

I too nursed much unaccountable love for skunk anansie.

I still maintain, in my dotage that 'Little Baby Swastika' is a thing of joy.

Also, my SK-love is entirely bound up with fancying pants off Skin. Does this make it better or worse?
