Cheryl's got the number one single AND album now, but there was only ONE picture of her in Friday's London Lite and NO pictures at all in the Evening Standard. Pull yr publicity socks up, Cheryl!

[Poll #1479756]

Halloween lower reaches watch: Thriller at 43, Ghostbusters at 57, Monster Mash at 61 Evanescence at 97.

2009 reckoning: Remember to go back and tick (or untick!) songs in all the previous chart polls this year so we can put together our [livejournal.com profile] poptimists chart entries of 2009 list in December (see chart poll results from 2008 and 2007 here and here). Look out for info about the 2009 Reader's Poll coming up soon!

Poll reminder: You have until tomorrow lunchtime to vote in Heat #2 of 2003 and pick your best new track to earn an extra tick in Heat #3.

Erm, I gather she rectified that with her metal snail-boobs dress on X Factor. Not that I saw it, but they haven't stopped talking about it on the radio ever since!

Meantime, "3 Words" (the song) is ace on a stick. Much better than the current single, which I still liked enough to tick.

I also like the Duck Sauce track, but I didn't know what it was until it was played on the chart show last night. Where do I know it from? I'm sure I've heard it a lot recently.

Mickey Bubble: LOL central. For some reason, he thinks "Cry Me A River" (the proper one, not the Justin one) might work mashed up with a John Barry Bond-theme pastiche. So RONG it's out the other side and worth a tick.

Fat Em: do you think if we had a whip round, we might presuade her to retire now. Quelle disastre!

Westlife seem to have reached the Cliff Richard type of level where the only major hits they get now are X Factor tie-ins (just as over the last 20 years or so nearly all of Cliff's major hits have been Christmas records or "100 Years In The Business/Thank You For This Marvellous Gold Watch"-type commemorative affairs).

"Anyway" and "3 Words" are both tracks of the year (the Cole album is perfectly decent, and sometimes a great deal more than decent, whenever the BEPs are involved; when they're not it is indeed a dreary affair).

Jeff, really glad you pushed the Rishi Rich thing over on the 2003 Best Songs competition, so that I could see Jay Sean lively and mattering. Not that he doesn't matter to lots of people now, but that original sparkle was good to see.
