Erm, I gather she rectified that with her metal snail-boobs dress on X Factor. Not that I saw it, but they haven't stopped talking about it on the radio ever since!

Meantime, "3 Words" (the song) is ace on a stick. Much better than the current single, which I still liked enough to tick.

I also like the Duck Sauce track, but I didn't know what it was until it was played on the chart show last night. Where do I know it from? I'm sure I've heard it a lot recently.

Mickey Bubble: LOL central. For some reason, he thinks "Cry Me A River" (the proper one, not the Justin one) might work mashed up with a John Barry Bond-theme pastiche. So RONG it's out the other side and worth a tick.

Fat Em: do you think if we had a whip round, we might presuade her to retire now. Quelle disastre!

Westlife "What About Now": Daughtry's version was drowned by Chris's wet baritone. You'd think that Westlife would lighten it enough to partly redeem it, given the tune's bit of prettiness, but no: with their massed instrumentation they inundate it just as badly. NO TICK.

Jay Sean f. Lil Wayne "Down": I have an unreasonable hatred for this mildly pleasant track. It's just so typical of how the current r&b-dance amalgam is reducing itself to uncommitted goo. Lame, empty, awful. NO TICK.

Miley Cyrus "Party In The USA": At least this goo is made of raw sugar and goes all out, and Luke undergirds it with a hot lick. TICK.

Lady GaGa "Bad Romance": You guys can't accuse her of only hitting her marks this time. I'm quite flabbergasted, actually; different moments remind me of everything from husky Ashlee Simpson to hammy Jim Morrison, with some Madonna tossed in as garnish. We get yanked from here to there: reductive chants, then without warning into French, and finally a pretty chorus, as a reward. TICK.

Biffy Clyro "The Captain": Earnestness tries to dance. What a chore. NO TICK.

Duck Sauce "aNYway": Ersatz dance funk; fast and chilly. NO TICK.

Cheryl Cole f. will.i.am "3 Words": A love song with the jitters. I can't make sense of it: sounds more like crawling ants than hearts and flowers, but this week that's a good thing. TICK.

Michael Bublé "Cry Me A River": He enunciates. Very clearly. Each syllable. Setting himself against the grain of the song, while the accompaniment fires hard volleys. I wasn't expecting to find this song jarring. Not enjoying the experience, unfortunately. NO TICK.

Florence + The Machine "You Got The Love": Man, the word "love" has shown its mettle this week, with all the pummeling it's getting. Grating. NO TICK.
