Missy Elliott gets the highest turnout of the decade so far, with a whopping 49 votes to win heat #3. Daft Punk, S Club 7 and Mary J Blige are safely through, but Alicia and DanBed tie for fifth - see below for the run-off.

Today's poll sees double J-Lo remix action, microgoth, mashups, possible incest and the Jackson Five (sort of). It's heat #4, everybody!

  • You get a maximum of TEN TICKS over the three bits of the poll. The top five will go through to the next stage.

  • If you want to change your vote (or tick too many by mistake), you can edit your votes by clicking on 'Poll #12345' then 'Fill Out Poll'.

  • UK chart placings given in brackets.

  • You have until Friday lunchtime to vote.

  • Rep for your favourites in the comments! Youtube embeds very welcome.

Weren't the DCs exclusively a covers band? I think I own 2 albums by them. For no good reason. I also have a Gore Gore Girls album, but only really bought it for 'I'm Gonna Get You Yet', which is still great. Can't remember the rest of it though.

The one Detroit Cobras CD I still own, Mink Rat Or Rabbit from, well, whatever year it was from (doesn't say anywhere on the cover, I just noticed) did indeed seem to mostly covers, albeit of songs I never heard before so I could be wrong. I was under the impression that "Cha Cha Twist" was their most famous song -- maybe it showed up on a soundtrack once? "Hey Sailor" (which I need to check out) isn't on the CD I have. Anyway, never liked them as much as the Gore Gore Girls or White Stripes (both of whose songs above I have now ticked, btw), but always liked them more than the Von Bondies (who I never got beyond their theme song for Rescue Me) or the Dirtbombs (who I never got period.)

Ha ha, the beat in "Hey Sailor" is totally stolen from "We Got The Beat" by the Go-Gos. No clue what she's babbling about, but I like her babble style. I will probably wind up ticking it.
