Missy Elliott gets the highest turnout of the decade so far, with a whopping 49 votes to win heat #3. Daft Punk, S Club 7 and Mary J Blige are safely through, but Alicia and DanBed tie for fifth - see below for the run-off.

Today's poll sees double J-Lo remix action, microgoth, mashups, possible incest and the Jackson Five (sort of). It's heat #4, everybody!

  • You get a maximum of TEN TICKS over the three bits of the poll. The top five will go through to the next stage.

  • If you want to change your vote (or tick too many by mistake), you can edit your votes by clicking on 'Poll #12345' then 'Fill Out Poll'.

  • UK chart placings given in brackets.

  • You have until Friday lunchtime to vote.

  • Rep for your favourites in the comments! Youtube embeds very welcome.

Um there were 6+ years between 'Slave' and Blackout (which wasn't exactly the hugest of commercial comebacks anyway), and those 6+ years include probably the most ::canon:: Britney single after 'Baby One More Time'.

'Slave' was huge at the time anyway, Britney hooking up with the Neptunes and ~casting off~ her virginal rep, and it's responsible for her most iconic live TV performance (the SNAKE). Nothing off this album slowed the Britney juggernaut at all. There was a lot more "Britney in decline" talk by the time 'Me Against The Music', off the next album, was released, but that was more due to the time off in between albums IIRC, and obv 'Toxic' firmly re-established her.

And then came the babies and the marriages and the drugs and the mental issues, and Blackout was right in the middle of that rather than a comeback from it, and I guess Circus is the real comeback except no one really likes it that much.

Slave was the first Britney song i really liked...admittedly more down to the Neptunes than her. i guess i also thought 'ah good i can crush on her properly now'.
