The Keys and Blige both seem...okay to me. Far from great. Maybe tickable, maybe not. Probably better than the Ludacris, Roots Manuva, Adult, Avalanches, Strokes, or Minogue. Not necessarily better than the A*Teens or Streets. Which also aren't all that great, to be honest. The more of these I listen to, the more depressing the list seems -- may be the first time I tick fewer than 10, just to avoid halfassedness.

I think my personal designation for Blige and Keys (which I actively disliked when it was actually popular) would be "OK but still should be Poptimists consensus-y." Like when you can't understand why [insert record you don't personally like that much] didn't do better on Pazz and Jop, from a distanced vantage point. Not in an outraged way, but perhaps in a more quizzical sorta way.
