Heat #3 was even closer than Heat #2! Kelis gets two more songs through with the help of ODB; the rest of the Wu Tang Clan join Spiller & Sophie E-B in the final. But it's a six-way stalemate for 5th place! Look for the tie-breaker at the end of this poll...

  • You get a maximum of TEN TICKS over the three bits of the poll. The top five will go through to the next stage.

  • If you want to change your vote (or tick too many by mistake), you can edit your votes by clicking on 'Poll #12345' then 'Fill Out Poll'.

  • UK chart placings given in brackets.

It's a fantastic track but I didn't tick 'Hot Boyz' because it's just so 1999 to me that it feels wrong sending it through...it was the last single off a 1999 album, the footnote of the album campaign which just happened to be in 2000.

Ditto 'Hip Hop', originally released in MARCH 1999. We won't have this issue in future heats but neither of those tracks are really part of the decade we're polling.

I like 'How Many Licks?' better than any of them anyway.

being twelve in 2000 i think Hot Boyz was the first Missy I heard. unless All N My Grill was earlier. but yeah, for me it's defo a 2000s track; i see yr point tho.

'All N My Grill' was the lead single I think so would've been 1999 - might be my favourite Missy track ever, that. Da Real World is def my favourite Missy album.

Have a v soft spot for 'Hot Boyz' anyway - them Benz jeeps and them LEXUS jeeps innit.

Agree. 'Hot Boyz' - excellent but not 00s and not even the most essential cut from its parent album. 'Heart Failed' - Tom says it's his favourite 00s St Et but I've never felt it was considered St Et canon? might be wrong though. 'Good Fortune' - I like it but if we need to recognise PJ H's worst album, which we don't, 'This Is Love' is so much superior. 'Hip Hop' - this is the only one which rivals 'How Many Licks' in terms of being something essential which won't crop up elsewhere, and loses out by dint of being from March 1999.

'How Many Licks' though is essential b/c of so many things...the apotheosis of shiny hip-pop club beats, one of the best ho-rap verses ever, being the signature track by one of the most significant 00s artists &c. Kinda disappointed it's doing so poorly in the play-off.

oh yeah and the Toni B - I love love love it, am thrilled that it's got this far after an unpromising start and if by the deadline Kim's still lagging and it's tight at the top, I'll switch my vote. But it doesn't have the same momentous, game-changing feeling as 'How Many Licks'.
