"Always On My Mind" won the Now 11 poll, pulling away by 1 vote from Belinda Carlisle (Blinda gets another crack this time). Kylie in third, then Beat Dis and Coldcut. Elton generally considered worst, not entirely because of my prompting. Today's poll seems a lot more open.

"I Think We're Alone Now" was the first single my now pop-hating brother bought, it was played non-stop all throughout the summer covered by this particular "Now" comp, and as such I have fond memories of it.

this is quite poor to the last mostly SPERB volume - although this does contain three of the top 50 singles of the decade in Timelords, Sex Press and Salt In An De Pepa. I thought 'Doctorin The Tardis' would be more popular among you farking NURDS.

I'm surprised at

- poor showing for Scritti Politti, obviously the late 80s stuff is still a bit uncool (tho this is a GREBT single)
- poor showing for Blinda, OK it's not a blockbuster like Heaveng is a Place but it's still a fine pop song.

I think that may be only my third favourite version of I Think We're Alone Now, but the three are very close and I love that song so much that it was no contest for me. Car Wash is not getting the love it deserves - there have been few more gorgeously produced singles ever. I love Norman Whitfield - one of my three favourite producers ever. I might have voted for that as my favourite had it not been a rerelease, which loses it points.
