Back on the normal Now schedule with the second half of 1988, and a surge of rootsy Celts into the charts - go on, say something interesting about Danny Wilson, I dare you. Elsewhere the first brithop revolution is in full swing and S Express flies the disco flag, also a top [livejournal.com profile] diggerdydum crossover of course.

"Always On My Mind" won the Now 11 poll, pulling away by 1 vote from Belinda Carlisle (Blinda gets another crack this time). Kylie in third, then Beat Dis and Coldcut. Elton generally considered worst, not entirely because of my prompting. Today's poll seems a lot more open.

[Poll #645995]

IN OTHER ORGAFUN NEWS: There are 5 places left in the Pop World Cup! Also Winner Stays On should be back tomorrow but I can't think of anything to put in it. The new Kelis single has leaked but it's a bit eh. Any ideas?

"I Think We're Alone Now" was the first single my now pop-hating brother bought, it was played non-stop all throughout the summer covered by this particular "Now" comp, and as such I have fond memories of it.

(also, in case it only gets 1 vote, YES IT IS ME WHO VOTED YES FOR GLENN MEDEIROS)

I think this is around the time I first started getting really obsessed with pop. 'Circle In The Sand' and 'I Think We're Alone Now' = RE-RE-WIND (the tape in the car, dad).

Where? I SWEAR that wasn't on there the first time.

That's the one that goes "Boys, boys, boys, dum-de-da-de-da-da" isn't it?

Likewise. This is the era when I started waking up at 5am on Saturday morning to watch the Top 60 countdown which was on telly in the mornings, so I know almost all of these.

Me! Just reading the title earwormed me and I am writhing in pain under my desk as a result.

But my mind is also conjuring up images of over-inflated bosoms. How should I cure that?

this is quite poor to the last mostly SPERB volume - although this does contain three of the top 50 singles of the decade in Timelords, Sex Press and Salt In An De Pepa. I thought 'Doctorin The Tardis' would be more popular among you farking NURDS.
