I dunno, I heard it in the car with my parents the other day and it sounded rub. Will give it a youtube once I've finished watching Ghosthunting with McFly, though.

Well, the ultimate culprits (or I should say the primal culprits) would be the Beatles, Yardbirds, and Kinks, and throw in the Who there to prove that you can do this all at HIGH VOLUME and Pink Floyd to say you can do it continually and the Velvet Underground to say you should make it muddy. It all sounds like fearsome guitars imitating bagpipes, or turning the amps up to ten and jamming off the Beatles' "Rain." The opening to Status Quo's "Pictures Of Matchstick Men" would be relevant here (that song being the only Quo that had any impact in the U.S.).
