It's the first Saturday of the month this week, which means - it's a Poptimism night! 8pm - 2am in the Cross Kings, at Kings Cross, with your regular DJs will be joined by guest6 catsgomiaow, who promises a voyage of exploration into a bygone decade, alongside the usual parade of tunes big and semi-big and BIG-TO-BE.

Also! The rumoured return of CAKE HOUR (though I'm not sure where these cakes will be coming from - I will be trying my hand at some again tho)

Also also! I have made a MUXTAPE for Poptimism, a mix of new tunes we might play and a few old-time gems. If this is your first time using Muxtape, it's a streaming mixtape web app - you just click on the first track (or wherever you want to start) then sit back and let them play (I wrote a bit about it here). MOAR Muxtape action coming later.

I was about to say, who thought up THAT name! I've been meaning to look into it all week, it seems like a good idea conceptually but I haven't actually been on the site itself yet.

It is how my Kiwi flatmate would pronounce Mixtape. So perhaps it was someone from New Zealand?

The Scooter track has been quite severely pitched down! Maybe you already knew that but it sounds better at the correct speed.

Really? Maybe it's a different mix - this was from one I torrented AGES ago when it came out as a European CDS (and then promptly forgot about until you mentioned it this week). So it's an official mix!

actually i quite like it at this pitch too (you could mix it in/out of 'Wearing My Rolex'! theoretically at least) but it also seems very wrong after seeing the video where it's typical Scooter speed
