I know, I wanted to tick them but they really were rub even by electroclash standards (and I loved electroclash) :(

Not that Lamb are a great deal better.

I didn't think so so I looked them up on wikipedia and eek/omg I know one of them!

(wasn't a mcgee's contribution Portobella? they were shit too. Luciana used to be in them. I think. oh electroclash.)

I bought a CoS album for £1 once and it still wasn't worth it. They were good at Reading Festival 200-and-something though!

surely they predate electroclash?

Corporate Hospitality Areas vs Moshpit

Why are people choosing "free punches in the head" over "free drinks"???

Date: 2008-02-29 03:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alexmacpherson.livejournal.com
apparently so! but I had never heard of them until 'lectroclash.

i think EC was their second bite of the cherry -- their first was off at the edges of belgian nu-beat, which is where i came across em (at the end of the crimean war)

still, full marks for them being doughtily persistent when so lame!

I have never been in a moshpit! (Though I have SEEN them, and I have no idea why anyone would...DO THAT to themselves.)

CHAs vary. There aren't always free drinks but there is usually a lot more space. Having guaranteed access to the VIP balcony at Fabric is a huge reason I tolerate the place.

(I guess CHAs aren't necessarily the same as VIP areas though!)

CHA usually has a good view of the act in question though.

oo blimey i'm talkin complete nonsense :D

i am thinking of the "chicks & speed: futurism" EP by lead into gold, who are an offshoot of ministry (so nothing much to do w.belgian nu-beat) (except for RUBBISH IS RUBBISH IS RUBBISH)

I know right! This is a great game. Duffy over Adele is the only clearcut result!

company of The Man

There is absolutely no way in which I could be considered to have "not sold out" so I can't, in conscience, choose the moshpit (of which I was not a great fan at my most punk i.e. 15.)

That's an excellent point; after the exchange of opinions on music, he'd actually want you to develop a metric with which to measure the level of mosh ("engagement").

Oy. I quite like 'em. They're patchy but occasionally ace.

Their cover of 'Warm Leatherette' was most unexpected!

How could anyone choose truth over beauty?

I can't stand Adele or Duffy so I abstained.

my main divergence from the poptimist majority is choosing vocals over guitar/bass/drums. i'll choose... bass

I cried a bit inside at having to choose American over British pop, but the last few years made it unavoidable...

"F. Lil' Wayne" versus "v. Lil' Wayne" is kind of a no-brainer, right? (And as far as I can tell there weren't any other options for "f. _____" last year, so there ya go!)

Truth v. Beauty

Damn, I get beauty all the time, but how often do you get some TRUTH?? Beauty's dime a dozen -- I mean my CATS are beautiful and they're really stupid!

Why bother with reggae when you can have Amy Diamond's endearing approximation of it?
