Lancelot Link And The Evolution Revolution - "Sha La La Love You" - today's submitter (who has AFAIK never taken part in Poptimists Orgafun before, so a warm welcome to them!) says: "Todays so called song writers could learn a lot from the investigative
monkey and his hippie pals! Perfect bubblegum pop!"
YOUTUBE CONTENT: The Evolution Revolution in action (NOT playing "Sha La La Love You" though so don't vote based on this.
[Poll #1136630]
For previous panels - including yesterday's - go here: http://community.livejournal.com/poptimists/tag/panel (all polls still open)
To submit a track send an MP3 to leagueofpop@gmail.com
Starting sometime this week we will be streaming the tracks at Freaky Trigger, at least on day of release, which should hopefully up the voting levels a little bit!

Date: 2008-02-11 05:14 pm (UTC)Lancelot Link & The Evolution Revolution "Sha La La Love You" (seems to be uncertainty as to how many "Las" belong in the title) - Classic-era poppy folk-rock that's actually sweet pop. You guys don't know how much I love this style. Neither do I. How much do I love this style? Well, when given zip and smiles from, say, the Cowsills, not to mention Tommy Roe (notice how the guitar here copies Roe's patented Buddy Holly subdued Diddley imitation) it can be pretty good. Hmmm. Seems to be missing something. Melody? Passion? Do love the guitar, and you can dance to this. And it's not offensive in its niceness. I'd give it about a 5.3, which I'm rounding up 'cause it's from a new person. 6

Date: 2008-02-11 05:25 pm (UTC)Link worked for APE (Agency to Prevent Evil), engaged in an ongoing conflict with the evil organization CHUMP (Criminal Headquarters for Underworld Master Plan). CHUMP's monocled chief, Baron von Butcher, inevitably hatched the latest plan to endanger the world. The Baron's network of international fiends included his shifty chauffeur Creto, mad scientist Dr. Strangemind (with an exaggerated Bela Lugosi dialect), imperious Dragon Woman, drowsy Wang Fu, singing sheik Ali Assa Seen and the cultured Duchess.
