It's Thursday, it's 2'o'clock, it's time for the Now poll. The series reaches surely its lowest ebb with Now 6, and evidence of penny-pinching abounds with minor hits and follow-ups all over the shop. Luckily those old faithfuls UB40 and Phil are around to 'steady the ship'. Did they ever team up? It seems inconceivable that they didn't and yet I can't remember - or my brain won't let me.

It has to be admitted that the 'bookies' have a clear favourite this time, but then the bookies certainly wouldn't have tipped Katrina and The Waves to beat out the competition on Now 5. Jimmy Nail seems to have attracted most of the DAILY HATE.

Comments, complaints, love letters to Baltimora, and musings on the impossibility of love across the iron curtain in the comments box, please.

Trouble with 'Alive and Kicking' is that it got overused in adverts and football montages and the like for the next 10 years...

Really? I would have put their on-the-brink point at Sparkle In The Rain, with DYFAM being a one off semi-successful attempt at anthemic AOR glitch. This is well over the edge into big bad gusty bollocks.

Oooh, I can see the EUROBOSH treatment working well here, especially if Jim Kerr's voice is replaced by that of an anonymous German lass. Any chance of a YSI?
