This month's Pitchfork column. Written very quickly and drawing on some of last week's conversations on poptimists, this was going to be a much more involved column roaming into some wider places but i. I didn't have time and ii. The connections were rather forced. Actually I'm quite pleased with how it turned out! (Thanks to, IIRC, lockedintheatti for alerting me to the ad in the first place)

I've only seen the advert once and was underwhelmed, tbh. I agree that the drum intro does transcend the 'oooh aren't we zany' aspect, but the whole business makes me feel uneasy for reasons I can't put my finger on.

I have a vat of far less coherent mumblings about nu-rave to post up later today. Tenderhooks, everyone!

Me as well - it is a good column and on the face of it convincing but I just can't get over the CHOCOLATE ADVERT thing, which is almost certainly due to ingrained anti-advert snobbery on my part.
