It's been a while since we trod the walkways of MEGA CITY POP, but Judge Pop's caseload is getting no smaller. This week's candidate for correction is CALVIN HARRIS, the gangly smirker who's brought hipster electro to the mainstream with his archly retro take on etc etc.

I have just realised that C Harris reminds me strongly of electro-ironists LAPTOP who I liked quite a lot in the late 90s, but who I think might have been insufferable if they ever HAD crossed over.

Laptop! That's a big reason why I like Harris, I think. Girls is highly redolent of wonderful lost hit Back Together.

There was some talk about Laptop being the NY equivalent of The Divine Comedy (whom I also love), and I think your speculative criticism of Laptop is proved in the case of Mr Hannon.

Whaaaaaaat? 'I'm So Happy You Failed' and 'Let's Not (But Say We Did)' have wit and malice. All Calvin's singles have is kitsch and repetition. Laptopotomy, maybe.
