A deluge of new entries this week, some of which should spark a bit of conversation. So I'll let you get on with it!

Messy = good (esp. in White Stripes' case). QOTSA is also a bit in this category - the main riff has an awkward jerkiness to it which I found quite endearing.

Yay for Ghosts NE. Barely scraping into the 40 AGANE, but at least it made it.

I am surprised to find myself liking Icky Thump. I shall file it with Of Montreal in the guilty pleasures category ;-)

hmmmm, kinda. (again, assuming it was the single i heard and not just an alBUM track they were playing on 6music) it hasn't even got a hook to grab on to. i think i like my stripes more DRIVIN' eg button to button, 7nation army...

Messy is what I like about the Holloways as well -really enjoy that manic, throw-it-at-the-wall-and-see-if-it-sticks sound that it's got. Not sure that they've got any tunes *other* than Generator, but it does make me happy whenever it's on the radio.

Might go back and tick Ghosts as well - didn't notice that but liked the video you posted.
