I Love #1s - 1983
May. 2nd, 2007 10:46 amLast time on the #1 polls, 2002 saw the battle of the girlbands, with Sugababes narrowly pipping Gels Alahd to the post, with Freak Like Me getting a massive 41 ticks. Now dudes, its time to rewind twenty years - oh man, I've been looking forward to this year for ages. Boyband FITES! Yazoo covers getting the wobs top spot! Dave Bow-tie rescuing his career! Put your hands up for 1983!
[Poll #977180]
Argh sorry dudes, managed to post this twice. Re-tick pls!

Date: 2007-05-02 11:27 am (UTC)I remember Rob Sheffield had a piece in Spin saying why New Kids On The Block were the new Rolling Stones, giving relevant comparisons, e.g., "Rolling Stones: The blues had a baby and they called it rock 'n' roll. New Kids On The Block: Maurice Starr had New Edition and they sued him."
Interesting fact about New Edition: Madonna was a supporting act on one of their tours.
