Last time on the #1 polls, 2002 saw the battle of the girlbands, with Sugababes narrowly pipping Gels Alahd to the post, with Freak Like Me getting a massive 41 ticks. Now dudes, its time to rewind twenty years - oh man, I've been looking forward to this year for ages. Boyband FITES! Yazoo covers getting the wobs top spot! Dave Bow-tie rescuing his career! Put your hands up for 1983!

Yeah, ditto. I ticked all of 'em bar:

Paul Young (song & arrangement OK, but hate his voice in general)
Rod Stewart (can't remember this one, but no doubt rub) and
Duran Duran (not bad, but my least favourite of theirs - there's something irritating about the way Le Bon sings "please please tell me now")

This came off the same album as "Young Turks" - his version of new wave/power pop. Totally tickable if you can shed your anti-disco-Rod preconceptions. I remember two or three of his singles around then being a totally guilty pleasure for me, because "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" was still totally the defining song for him.
