Yeah yeah canon, yeah yeah "what's in the charts these days", SNORE SNORE more like. As it's sunny today, I was reminded about the glorious SHINE POLLS that I stopped doing at some point last year - goodness knows WHY! I'm pleasantly surprised by how many of these songs are of course, BLUDDY GRATE, and I hope you are too! Fighting Fit! Beautiful Ones! And Lost Myself by perennial Shine Poll favourites The Longpigs could mean this is a tuff battle! I tried to wear slides like Manda Rin, but my hair is too tough and big for it to work properly, though it did mean that Claire's Accessories (Blackpool branch) made a lot of money out of my valiant attempt to buy cutesy hairclips. On with the voting!!

So err looking at myself and Kat's answer to the last question I conclude that she is the (p)optimist and I am the pessimist :(

Nearly all of this is AMAZING. The rest of it I can't remember so is probably also AMAZING but did not lodge in tiny primary school mind under weight of SATS exams.

Actually, on that note, what year was this out? I can't have been more than about twelve at the very most because I got that Shed Seven song on, like, NOW32 or something in year six. Whatever year it was was possibly my formative one for muzak.

as a representative of 1997 (there's a couple of out of time blur/wasis songs on here to confuse you) i can only apologise (mind i love most of it too).

Yeah despite my ENTIRELY ACCURATE statement that this is the low point of the entire century of human culture, I still would have ticked half a dozen more if the penny-pinching compilers had shelled out for the good singles.

You've got to fly

It's just like flying thru' the air

Indeed it is.

There was this remix of One Night Stand that was really pretty! It was just a load of strings and the guy singing. Though this is just half-remembered from about ten years ago, so it might be cack really.

Girls And Boys just sounds horrible to me. Everything about it makes me feel a bit ill...the sound of it, the melody, Damon being all smug and sneery. Argh. It could be worse, it could be Stereotypes or Charmless Man or something like that. I never was a Blur person.

So yes, I had two favourites in this poll, and no-one else has either of them as their favourites, whilst quite a lot of you had one of them down as your Most Hated. 'Lost Myself' is a true classic, and since it has received no criticism here, I don't feel any need to defend it. Shed Steven on the other hand (no, that's not a typo, it's what I always called them) were a poor to average Britpop band with one good song. And this be it. I discovered on a trip to Magaluf of all places (aged 17) that 'Chasing Rainbows' is just about the ultimate drunken singalong song, certainly far better for that purpose than anything Wasis ever managed. I still know most of the words by heart I think... let's see...

There's things that I regret
Like being called a nervous wreck
And working out another sweat for you

There's nothing I can do
Like counterparts and bleeding hearts
And all the things that fall apart for you

I don't keep my secrets that well
I hide them everywhere

I could deny, but I'll never realise
I'm just chasing rainbows, all the time

Not bad for drunken memory!

No, but I did buy the Bluetones' 'Expecting To Fly' and returned it two days later once I'd got sick of 'Slight Return' on repeat.

Concurred. Had temporarily forgotten how much that song made me cringe when was filling out poll or else would have definitely won the 'worst' category, for me. Is just rubbish and horrible from start to finish, am not sure have ever disliked a song so much in whole life before or since.
