Yeah yeah canon, yeah yeah "what's in the charts these days", SNORE SNORE more like. As it's sunny today, I was reminded about the glorious SHINE POLLS that I stopped doing at some point last year - goodness knows WHY! I'm pleasantly surprised by how many of these songs are of course, BLUDDY GRATE, and I hope you are too! Fighting Fit! Beautiful Ones! And Lost Myself by perennial Shine Poll favourites The Longpigs could mean this is a tuff battle! I tried to wear slides like Manda Rin, but my hair is too tough and big for it to work properly, though it did mean that Claire's Accessories (Blackpool branch) made a lot of money out of my valiant attempt to buy cutesy hairclips. On with the voting!!

So err looking at myself and Kat's answer to the last question I conclude that she is the (p)optimist and I am the pessimist :(

I have a lot of sympathy for all the major grunge bands, I listened to all of that stuff as a teenager. Soundgarden have their flaws, but they produced a whole bunch of songs that I like. "Burden In My Hand" isn't one of their heavy ones, though I wouldn't call it a ballad either. It's kinda mid-tempo, and it has a nice melody even though Chris Cornell is screeching and over-emoting to the point of absurdity.

Nearly all of this is AMAZING. The rest of it I can't remember so is probably also AMAZING but did not lodge in tiny primary school mind under weight of SATS exams.

Actually, on that note, what year was this out? I can't have been more than about twelve at the very most because I got that Shed Seven song on, like, NOW32 or something in year six. Whatever year it was was possibly my formative one for muzak.

Yeah despite my ENTIRELY ACCURATE statement that this is the low point of the entire century of human culture, I still would have ticked half a dozen more if the penny-pinching compilers had shelled out for the good singles.
