[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] poptimists
finally have an afternoon free at home so spent it listening to [livejournal.com profile] martinskidmore's poptops o'2006 --- and find i am v.conflicted on J.COCKER esq.: i kind of think "(cvnts are still) running the world" is a really AWFUL song, dreary and ploddy in sound certainly, and the sentiment, well, this is a perfect case of "why are the ppl who voice my approximate feelings such tw@ts sometimes?"

i used to LOVE "common people" and then i kind of suddenly went off it hugely, and i'm not sure if i've ever liked another pulp song -- JC just seems a moany old git

funnily enough only by reading Martin's mention of Scott Walker and yr post about moany oldies that only NOW it struck me that Scott Walker must be 60 or something. At no point while listening to Tilt did his age register, or a 'not bad for an oldie' thought ever came to me.
