[identity profile] dubdobdee.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] poptimists
finally have an afternoon free at home so spent it listening to [livejournal.com profile] martinskidmore's poptops o'2006 --- and find i am v.conflicted on J.COCKER esq.: i kind of think "(cvnts are still) running the world" is a really AWFUL song, dreary and ploddy in sound certainly, and the sentiment, well, this is a perfect case of "why are the ppl who voice my approximate feelings such tw@ts sometimes?"

i used to LOVE "common people" and then i kind of suddenly went off it hugely, and i'm not sure if i've ever liked another pulp song -- JC just seems a moany old git

Mark, why are you talking about the dumbass cunts song when you could be talking about "Before He Cheats" and "Only A Fool"? (On the teenpop thread, when [livejournal.com profile] skyecaptain quoted Simon R's lazy P&J remarks about "conscientious generalists" listening to country, I immediately fantasized digging my keys into the sides of Simon's Saab, carving my name into his vinyl seats, and taking my Louisville slugger to his headlights so that maybe, next time, he'd think before he writes.)
