finally have an afternoon free at home so spent it listening to martinskidmore's poptops o'2006 --- and find i am v.conflicted on J.COCKER esq.: i kind of think "(cvnts are still) running the world" is a really AWFUL song, dreary and ploddy in sound certainly, and the sentiment, well, this is a perfect case of "why are the ppl who voice my approximate feelings such tw@ts sometimes?"

i used to LOVE "common people" and then i kind of suddenly went off it hugely, and i'm not sure if i've ever liked another pulp song -- JC just seems a moany old git

no -- and to be strictly fair to jarvis and pulp here i am by NO MEANS someone who has heard the bulk of the hoover, as britpop 1.0 flourished totally in my music-downtime (ie during and after my time at the wire), so only a little percolated through
