19 years of the Bootiful Sahrf (who are deceptively from THE NORTH! Who'da thunk) and what have they got to show for themselves? 22 hit singles, that's what. You get to pick SEVEN tracks from the following 'bittersweet kitchen sink dramas' (cheers wikipedia). You know you cannot resist the ticky!

I can TOTALLY resist the ticky. One of the worst bands to have ever had a hit.

Yes I am afraid I have to abstein from this vote on account of TBS being too much the rub.

Somehow this did not happen with Status Quo but that's largely because I didn't know most of their singles and was hoping they were secretly great before 1985 (sadly not quite the case).

Can't we have a Complete Norman Cook canon instead?

Was "36D" really not a single??? That one is especially terrible, though they topped it with "Don't Marry Her" and "Perfect 10".

I can only remember three TBS songs but was prepared to tick all three on the grounds of being pleasant enough...

When I first saw this I thought to myself "See, I don't like this lot, but I bet they're one of those bands where I know more of their stuff than I realise."

Turns out it's the other way, and I actually know less of their stuff than I thought I did.

A few songs are really brilliant!

Yeesh. 80% of you so far have ticked "Song for Whomever" (which I have never heard). So quit yer gripin.

"Rotterdam" is a wonderful little slice of MOR self-pity and delicate hooks.

I LOVE the three voices on "You Keep It All In."

And "We Are Each Other," well I can't remember it at the moment, but I know I like it because I just d/led it over the holidays.

We should remark on the cover art of the debut LP... the two pics of people with guns in their mouths, briefly pulled off the shelves thanks to some oversensitive folk complaining, and replaced with pics of cuddly toys... The original art was reinstated fairly quickly though, making the shortlived cuddly version slightly more collectible.

Easiest canon ever. One tick: the gorgeous "Rotterdam". Everything else, nah, though admittedly only "Perfect 10" is bad enough to make me vom in my mouth.

"A Little Time" is wife + me's karaoke standard -- she sings man, I woman. Also: flour-covered teddy bear in video!
