Jop Tournament Qualifiers 6
Jan. 24th, 2007 02:56 pmThe sixth batch features two PE tracks, brings us bang up to date with Cansei, pits Xtina against the legions of indie, and gives Grandmaster Flash a second crack after "The Message"'s collapse. The winners will join Annie, Cameo, Kate Bush and "Bootylicious" in the first round.
[Poll #913102]
Tomorrow - French house! Scottish indie! Tamil, erm, whatever "Galang" is!

Tixotica
Date: 2007-01-24 03:05 pm (UTC)V: PE beats NO, by a fairly small distance.
W: SO BORED of Kylie, please don't let her win! New pop 82 beats new pop 01 anyway, though I'd switch to Snap if it kept KM out.
X: Almost nothing between Xtina and Annie - happy to switch if necessary, the others are rub.

Date: 2007-01-24 03:08 pm (UTC)and it would actually segue v well with 'Let's Make Love...' i've just realised.

Date: 2007-01-24 03:13 pm (UTC)V: Close call between Dury and Temptation, but I went for the latter as it makes me smile. 2nd best New Order song!
W: I like all of these, but White Lines wins by a small nose (sniff)
X: Annie. No contest.

Date: 2007-01-24 03:14 pm (UTC)V - Easy tick, that New Order song is amazing and none of the other ones are really close
W - Another very weak group. I'm sick of that Kylie song too, and I definitely prefer "Love at First Sight", but I couldn't bring myself to tick anything else ahead of it.
X - V. easy tick. I've never been able to adequately explain it, but "Genie in a Bottle" is probably my favorite song of all time.

Date: 2007-01-24 03:15 pm (UTC)I am also hugely bored of that Kylie song and I don't think I'll ever tire of The Power.
The other two I didn't even have to think about.

Date: 2007-01-24 03:36 pm (UTC)V: Not one of my favourite New Order tracks, Public Enemy pretty easily. House Of Pain has long worn thin, I'm surprised it's here at all (AND CIARA WASN'T OH HOW MY HEART ACHES)
W: Kylie good but overrated. Snap better.
X: u put X-X-X-X-X-tina in here deliberately didn't you Tom. (No contest.) (Seriously there is no excuse for ticking Beck or Nirvana here.)
20-ish Vote Outlook
Date: 2007-01-24 03:57 pm (UTC)V: Too close to call - surge for PE as the US votes, maybe?
W: Kylie starting to pull ahead - can't see her throwing this one away.
X: Surprisingly poor showing for Beck, not that this commentator is complaining. Xtina in the lead but I don't think this fite is over.
