I tick anyone can play guitar PURELY for an awesome live version where the guitar sounds like 10000 BOSCH HAMMERDRILLS. The version on the album is "mince" as [livejournal.com profile] ultraruby would say.

After living in oxford for two years with nary a thom yorke sighting, suddenly this year I see him on a weekly basis, walking the other way from me along the broad. I still get a little excited thrill inside that I probably cover up by looking sour and mean in his direction. (obv if i saw ed o'brien i would implode with love&adoration as he is 1xactual ROCK STAR)

ok computer was my favourite album in the world ever ever ever for very many years; I'm not ashamed; or maybe I am, but I'm trying not to be.

For me, I think part of the reason I haven't listened to that album in so long is that it is SO closely tied - even more so than most albums I've loved - with a particular time and place. It would be like LITERALLY wearing a black overcoat and wandering down Broad Street thinking about posh girls again.

I would defend 'Let Down' to death, though.

Bands like Radiohead are really quite rubbish at choosing what to put out as a single, are they not?

At least they made the right decision with Kid A (i.e. NONE OF THIS AWFULNESS)

Yes. Why Idioteque was never a single when it was clearly THE BEST THING THEY HAVE EVER WRITTEN is beyond me.

No.

(I used to own it. It has its moments, which are actually really unmomentous compared to actual moments, but is really really unremarkable and the critical love BEMUSES me. what are these people hearing in this boring music?! what?!)

It's one of those 'classics' that actually is very good, but only if you forget the 'classic' thing and listen to it with a wide open mind, I find. Otherwise you just sit there thinking "This is not as good as it is meant to be! Grr."

Because I am ACTUALLY NOT AWAKE, I wrote 'Knives Out' where I meant to write 'Fake Plastic Trees' in my 'best' one. Sorry about that.

Thom Yorke's solo album is fucking terrible, innit?

I was once interviewed for a Quebecan TV channel about Kid A, while I was walking down a road in Oxford. I feel I answered the question about it's danceability as best I could, although cannot actually remember what I said. (The actual question was 'Do you think it's harder to dance to than their previous albums?')

The descending piano chords at the start of 'Everything In Its Right Place' are AMAZING and SPINE-SHIVERING and I could listen to them over and over again.

The rest of the song is rub because he starts singing though.

I thought I knew what you meant for a second but I was thinking of the bass at the start of "The National Anthem"

I have voted on the premise that if 2+2=5, then 5 can clearly mean whatever we like. Also, I can't choose between them, I'd end up voting for the singles when they were a top pop band (Just etc) and then unticking them and ticking the recent stuff, that I love more.

Also, I am kind of surprised "Karma Police" isn't doing better--it's like the anti-indie anthem! ("buzzes like a fridge" "her hitler hairdo" etc.)
