Ah blimey so it is! I was going to add a sarky note about how everyone who chose P'head as the most important was being fooled by the fact that all their songs sound the same, but allmusic.com convinced me that Sour Times was released first. Bloody allmusic.com

'Sour Times' was released first but wasn't a hit. Then 'Glory Box' was a hit, then 'Sour Times' was re-released and was also a hit.

I love 'Sour Times' and it is OBVIOUSLY way superior to any Pulp/Supergrass crap but it is not the masterpiece which is 'Glory Box' that's for sure.

I heard Sour Times first I think. Well, I heard whatever was first track on the album first - I was in a low mood and believed a review I read which told me the album would transform my life. (It didn't, but I did love it for a while).

It's strange to think how weird it sounded to me back then, I had never heard anything like it and had no conception that music could be anything like this. And now...

It was never the dinner party soundtrack it's since been painted as though, far too actively gloomy and some of the beats are far too oppressive and headachey.
